4th July 2009: There have been several notable events that have occured in the last few months:

Fundraising dinners are are now held each month by one of the 3 fundraising groups within the community. With great food , and lots of laughter, these fundraising dinners have been a huge success and we would like to congratulate all members for the great efforts they have contributed towards each event. To our family and friends we thank you for the donations and encourage you to continue to support these fundraising efforts. The date of the next fundraising dinner (by Group #2) will be annouced shortly.

The ladies night out which was a huge success and fun event. Thanks go out to Louise and Nina Jory for organising the event.

The baptism of: Danielle Kearns, Aterana & Sereana Bukya, and Luke & Mark Hills. Thanks go out to all parties that attended especially to the family and friends that helped cater for the event.

9th January 2009: The Rotuman Community of Queensland wish Muli, Gina and Family all the best as they depart for Canberra. We have had a wonderful time with you all over the past two years. You will all be greatly missed.

1st January 2009: Happy New Year! Best wishes for the new year.

26th December 2008: A very big thank you to the Toowoomba Rotumans for providing such a wonderful fara on Boxing day. It is the best fara that we have seen in Brisbane please feel free to visit us anytime :)

25th December 2008: Merry Christmas. God bless you all.

18th October 2008: A touch (rugby) team has been assembled by the community and friends. They have joined the Cook Islander competition held on Saturday's at 2.00pm at Mabel Park High School, Slacks Creek. Anyone is welcome to play or support the team.

11th October 2008: The Rotuman Community of Queensland Hula group danced several items for the second day at the Fiji day celebrations.

10th October 2008: The Rotuman Community of Queensland provided a cultural dance for the Fiji Day celebrations held in Brisbane. Although the weather was not perfect it was an entertaining day of cultural activities and rugby.

4th October 2008: Congratulations to Ana and Rodney Bukuya on a wonderful wedding!!

27th September 2008: Congratulations to the organisers of the fund raiser event for the Catholic church in Rotuma. It was a very well run and entertaining event with many Rotumans and their friends attending.

20th September 2008:  The Rotuman Community of Queensland will perform a cultural dance at the Fiji day celebrations held in Brisbane. Members will be contacted with dance practice times.                                           

17th August 2008:  A committee meeting was held at the Manueli residence.                                                                                                        

27th July 2008:    The Rotuman Community of Queensland has now been officially recognised as a faith community by the Uniting Church of Australia. Our thanks goes out to all those that attended the confirmation ceremony and to the members of the Rotuman Community that helped prepare the food. Special thanks to the Toombul District Uniting Church for all their support over the years.

2nd July 2008:    We are happy to state that the website is now officially running. Alan Howard of Rotuma.net has been informed of the new website address. If you wish to join the mailing list for this website please contact us (See Contact Us link at top of page).

28th June 2008:    The annual quarterly meeting for  the community was held. Please note that the confirmation ceremony as a faith community will be held on Sunday 27th July at the Nudgee church. 

17th May 2008:    The community celebrated Rotuma day with an event filled day that included; teaching of traditional ceremonies; singing; prayer and of course volleyball.

10th April 2008:    Preparations for Tiva's birthday party this Saturday are in full swing. Several interstate and overseas guests will be present to honour her. If you have been lucky enough to be invited the Rotuman Community of Queensland looks forward to meeting you at the venue. 

7th February 2008:    The Rotuman Community of Queensland also says a sad goodbye to Moli Hili as he pursues a career in the Australian Navy.

 5th April 2008:    The Rotuman Community of Queensland would like to wish Patrina Hili all the best in her new job (macrobiologist) as she relocates to Cairns.

10th February 2008:    The Rotuman Community of Queensland will host a large birthday celebration for Tiva Cort.
